Gangjin-gun Provides Additional 100,000 Won per Person in National Support Funds for Low-Income Households

Basic Livelihood Security Recipients, Legal Second-Lowest Income Bracket, and Single-Parent Families to Receive Separate 5th Disaster Relief Payments

[Gangjin＝Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-su] On the 13th, Gangjin-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that it will provide an additional national support fund of 100,000 KRW per person to 2,442 low-income households totaling about 3,479 people who are struggling financially due to COVID-19.

The additional national support fund for low-income groups is paid separately from the 5th disaster relief fund (COVID-19 Coexistence National Support Fund).

The support targets include recipients of the National Basic Livelihood Security as of August this year, legally designated second-lowest income groups, and single-parent families receiving child-rearing support.

Among them, recipients of basic livelihood security living and housing benefits who do not require account information verification, second-lowest income disabled persons, and legally designated single-parent families receiving child-rearing support will be paid in a lump sum on the 24th to the account of one representative of the beneficiary household without a separate application.

However, for recipients of basic livelihood security medical and education benefits who require account information verification, second-lowest income groups with reduced personal burden, self-support, or verification, separate applications will be accepted at the eup/myeon offices or payments will be made after account verification procedures.

Additionally, if new protection qualifications are acquired in August, or in cases of account errors, inability to verify, or delayed contact, additional payments are planned by the 15th of next month.

Choi Jong-yeol, Director of the Resident Welfare Office, said, “We plan to do our best to provide support funds to alleviate the financial burden on low-income groups suffering from the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic and to help revitalize the local economy.”
