Director Ryu Seung-wan's film "Mogadishu" has been sold to 50 countries worldwide. According to distributor Lotte Entertainment on the 12th, major European countries such as Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, Austria, and Switzerland, as well as filming locations Morocco, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Iraq, Iran, Israel, Yemen, Syria, and Ethiopia have purchased the rights. In North America, it has been screened at 42 theaters since its opening as the opening film of the New York Asian Film Festival on the 6th, and releases are also being planned in Asian countries including Japan, Hong Kong, Macao, the Philippines, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, and Taiwan. A representative from Lotte Entertainment explained, "It was sold in the same way as overseas theatrical releases before the COVID-19 pandemic," adding, "Various screening formats such as IMAX and 4DX are also being considered." "Mogadishu" is also enjoying long-term success domestically. Since its release on the 28th of last month, it has attracted 1,971,166 viewers over sixteen days. It is the highest-grossing Korean film released this year. With positive audience reviews and maintaining over 1,000 screens, it is expected to continue its upward momentum for the time being.
