Seongnam City Provides 100,000 Won 'National Support Fund' Per Person to Over 37,800 Low-Income Residents
[Asia Economy (Seongnam) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Seongnam City in Gyeonggi Province will provide an additional "Low-Income National Support Fund" of 100,000 KRW per person to low-income households struggling due to COVID-19.
The recipients include about 37,800 people such as basic livelihood security recipients, legally designated near-poverty groups, and single-parent families.
Those already receiving existing cash benefits will be paid in a lump sum on the 24th to their welfare benefit accounts without a separate application.
Those who have not registered welfare benefit accounts can apply through their local administrative welfare centers and receive the payment by the 15th of next month.

A city official explained, "This additional support fund is provided separately from the 5th disaster relief fund," adding, "It is aimed at low-income groups who are economically struggling due to the prolonged COVID-19 situation."
