Gwangju Seo-gu Pungam-dong Bojang Association Delivers 'Summer Survival Supplies' to Single-Person Crisis Households

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Shin Dong-ho] The Bojang Council of Pungam-dong, Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Chairman Kwon Jae-hwan) announced on the 12th that it delivered cooling summer supplies to single-person households in crisis within the district on the 11th.

The Pungam-dong Bojang Council is promoting a welfare one-on-one project with welfare community leaders targeting high-risk single-person households who face a high risk of social disconnection and isolation.

Currently, there are a total of 52 high-risk single-person households connected through the welfare one-on-one project. The Bojang Council members and welfare community leaders conduct regular monitoring through welfare calls, home visits, and linking welfare services.

This summer supplies delivery was prepared as part of the welfare one-on-one project.

On the day, the Bojang Council members and welfare community leaders held a delivery event at the Pungam-dong Administrative Welfare Center, then visited their respective one-on-one households to check on their well-being and delivered cervical pillows and summer blankets.

In this event, Wonkwang Credit Union Pungam Branch added significance by supporting 104 packs of instant Samgyetang (ginseng chicken soup) for health care in celebration of Malbok (the last of the three hottest days of summer).

A Bojang Council official said, “With increased time spent at home due to COVID-19 and the difficulties caused by the summer heat, many people are going through tough times. We hope this supplies delivery will help them have a somewhat cooler summer.”

Meanwhile, the Pungam-dong Administrative Welfare Center operates the crisis household discovery team ‘Pungamgol! Hope Lantern Team,’ composed of the Bojang Council, welfare community leaders, self-support groups, and residents, actively working to identify crisis households such as single-person households with no external contact.
