[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongguk Lee] Regarding the sudden occurrence of 7 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the Andong area within six days, Mayor Kwon Young-se held a direct COVID-19 briefing on the morning of the 12th, urging, "Please refrain from visiting other regions and meeting relatives during the Liberation Day holiday period (14th-16th)."
Mayor Kwon emphasized, "Except for one person confirmed positive yesterday while in self-quarantine, the other six confirmed cases were infected after family gatherings in other regions," adding, "This is evidence that community transmission is spreading."
He continued, "If you have even slight suspicious symptoms, please do not hesitate at all and visit the Andong City Public Health Center screening clinic immediately to get tested," he requested.
Andong City continuously conducts regular inspections of about 6,000 workplaces in the area through facility grading systems and a responsible public official real-name system, and has fully implemented a phone-based safe call entry management service at hygiene establishments such as restaurants and cafes.
Additionally, antigen self-test kits have been distributed to 216 entertainment facilities for proactive use in emergencies, and since the 30th of last month, large stores such as the Livestock Cooperative Hanaro Mart, E-Mart, and Homeplus have been mandated to keep visitor logs.
