According to the county on the 12th, the 5-day markets to be temporarily closed are Jogeum 5-day Market (17th), Gogeun 5-day Market (15th), and Imhoe 5-day Market (14th), in agreement with the traditional market merchants' associations.
The county decided to temporarily close the 5-day markets, which are characterized by frequent interregional movement, due to the possibility of COVID-19 spreading within the local community, prioritizing the safety of residents and merchants.
The closure period will be adjusted depending on the COVID-19 spread situation, and external street vendors gathering on traditional market days as well as market stalls will be controlled during the closure.
A Jindo-gun official said, “We have decided to close the 5-day markets to ensure the safety of residents from COVID-19,” adding, “We will do our best in quarantine efforts to prevent infection spread so that local residents and merchants can return to a safe daily life.”
