Hi Air launches Muan-Ulsan route... 'Twice a week' from September 17
Opening Air Routes: Muan~Gimpo in June, Followed by Muan~Jeju in July
[Muan=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Oh Hwan-joo] Jeonnam Province announced on the 12th that it will start a new east-west route between Muan and Ulsan from September at Muan International Airport.
HyAir, a small-scale air transport operator, has been operating flights from Muan International Airport to Gimpo 10 times a week since June and to Jeju twice a week since July.
Starting September 17, the Ulsan route will also operate twice a week. Departures from Muan International Airport are scheduled every Friday at 7:40 PM and Sunday at 11:10 AM, while departures from Ulsan Airport are scheduled every Friday at 6:10 PM and Sunday at 9:40 AM.
The flight time is one hour. Currently, to travel from Muan to Ulsan, one must use a car or train; by car it takes 4 hours, and there is no direct train line, requiring transfers and taking over 4 hours.
The launch of this new Ulsan route is expected to boost active exchanges among businesspeople within the province and enhance east-west transportation usage.
A Jeonnam Province official stated, “With the new Ulsan route, passengers between Jeonnam and Ulsan regions can travel quickly and conveniently,” adding, “The increase in tourists visiting Jeonnam will greatly contribute to revitalizing the local economy.”
The ATR72-500 model operated by HyAir, which will be the main aircraft when Heuksan Airport opens, has proven its safety in the International Air Transport Association (IATA) safety report and the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) annual report.
Its advantages include spacious seats and wings positioned above the fuselage, providing a pleasant boarding environment with unobstructed scenic views.
