Apartment Manager Embezzled 800 Million Won in Maintenance Fees Over 9 Years... "Used for Debt Repayment and Credit Card Bills"
[Asia Economy Reporter Ji-hwan Park] An employee of an apartment consignment management company who embezzled over 800 million won in apartment maintenance fees for more than nine years has been brought to trial.
The Gunsan Branch of the Jeonju District Prosecutors' Office announced on the 11th that Mr. A was arrested and indicted on charges of violating the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Economic Crimes (embezzlement) and forgery of private documents.
Mr. A is accused of embezzling over 830 million won in more than 1,200 transactions from a bank account under the name of the apartment residents' representative meeting from January 2012 to June 2020. Mr. A, who was in charge of accounting and other tasks at the apartment management office, committed the crime while managing the account under the residents' representative meeting's name. The prosecution believes that the money was used for Mr. A's debt repayment, living expenses, and credit card payments.
