Goheung-gun Imposes Resident Tax This Year... Payment Due by the End of This Month
From This Year, Individual Business Owners and Corporations' Equalization and Property Taxes Integrated into Business Location Tax, Must Report by August
[Goheung=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Goheung-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Song Gwi-geun) announced on the 11th that it imposed 30,463 cases of resident tax amounting to 707 million KRW this year.
The taxpayers are individual household heads residing in the jurisdiction as of the tax base date of the 1st of last month, individual business owners with a total VAT taxable standard amount of 48 million KRW or more, and corporations with business offices in the jurisdiction.
However, resident tax on the individual portion is exempted for minors under 18 years old and unmarried household heads under 30 years old who are direct descendants of the taxpayer and form a single household. If a minor living with adults such as parents is registered as the household head on the resident registration, resident tax is imposed.
Payment methods include internet payment via Wetax, virtual accounts, payment slips, or through the websites of affiliated banks. Payments can also be made in cash or by credit card at CD/ATM machines of all banks nationwide, and conveniently by phone using ARS.
Additionally, KakaoPay, NaverPay, and Payco subscribers can apply in advance through the respective apps to receive mobile payment slips and easily pay via simple credit card payment.
Starting this year, the resident tax system has been reorganized. The resident tax property portion, which was previously reported and paid in July, and the resident tax individual business owner and corporate equalization portions, which were imposed in August, have been integrated into the resident tax business office portion reported and paid in August. To facilitate taxpayer reporting convenience, the county will send payment slips for the resident tax business office portion.
Taxpayers are considered to have reported if they pay the amount stated on the payment slip by the payment deadline. If the amount differs, a separate report should be filed.
