Lee Jeong-hoon, Park Sang-young, and Jang Eun-young Awarded the Shin Dong-yeop Literary Prize
New Poet Award Nam Hyunji, New Novel Award Seong Hyeryeong, New Criticism Award Kim Juwon
Publisher Changbi announced on the 10th that poet Lee Jeong-hoon (54), novelist Park Sang-young (33), and critic Jang Eun-young (46) will receive the 39th Shin Dong-yup Literary Award. The awarded works are the poetry collection Sogari, Horangi, the novel collection Love in a Metropolis, and the criticism Humane Death, Imagining Such a Future: Kim Sai-ron.
The judging panel commented on Sogari, Horangi, saying it "adds poetic depth to the vibrant scenes of nature and labor." Regarding Love in a Metropolis, they said it "shows an innovative aspect that breaks down old relationships and ideas." Humane Death, Imagining Such a Future: Kim Sai-ron is a critique published in the fall 2019 issue of Today's Literary Criticism. The panel praised it, stating, "It delicately addresses the crisis of labor through critical language and fundamentally reconsiders the concept of 'labor poetry.'"
The Shin Dong-yup Literary Award was jointly established by the family of poet Shin Dong-yup (1930?1969) and Changbi to honor his literature and spirit. It is awarded based on works created within the last two years by writers with less than ten years of debut or equivalent experience. The award ceremony will be held at the end of November.

Meanwhile, Changbi selected poet Nam Hyun-ji (44), who wrote 'Hosugongwon' and four other poems, as the recipient of this year's Changbi New Poet Award. The Changbi New Fiction Award goes to Seong Hye-ryeong (32) for the short story Yoon So Jeong, and the Changbi New Criticism Award is given to critic Kim Joo-won (40) for The Outside of Humanism and the Ontology of Openness: On Shin Hae-uk’s Poetry.
