Construction of Joseon and Marine Industry Special Zone in Goseong-gun, Gyeongnam Resumes After 14 Years

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Sang-hyun] Construction in the Yangchon and Yongjeong districts of the Goseong Shipbuilding and Marine Industry Special Zone will resume after 14 years.
On the 10th, Goseong County, Gyeongnam Province announced that it signed an investment agreement leading the Green New Deal policy, attended by Ha Byung-pil, Acting Governor of Gyeongnam Province, Baek Doo-hyun, County Governor, and Song Mu-seok, CEO of Samkang M&T.
Through this agreement, Samkang M&T will invest approximately 500 billion KRW by 2023 to establish a production plant for offshore wind power substructure jackets and monopiles in the Yangchon and Yongjeong districts (1,920,492㎡) of the Goseong County Donghae-myeon Shipbuilding and Marine Industry Special Zone.
Additionally, by creating about 2,000 jobs, the company will prioritize hiring young people within Gyeongnam Province and participate in the Green New Deal policies promoted by the province and county.
Gyeongnam Province and Goseong County pledged to do their best to provide administrative and financial support within the scope prescribed by law to ensure smooth progress of the investment.
