‘Malbok’ Gwangju·Jeonnam Forecasts Strong Showers with Thunder and Lightning
Heatwave Continues... Daytime Temperatures Around 32 Degrees
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Cho Hyung-joo] Amidst the continuous heatwave sweeping through the Gwangju and Jeonnam regions, localized showers are forecasted in various areas.
According to the Gwangju Regional Meteorological Administration on the 10th, due to atmospheric instability, strong showers accompanied by gusty winds, thunder, and lightning are expected in some places in Gwangju and Jeonnam until the afternoon.
The expected rainfall in Gwangju and Jeonnam is 5 to 70 mm.
Due to the nature of the showers, the areas experiencing rain will be narrow, but some places may experience heavy rainfall temporarily, and significant differences in rainfall amounts between regions are expected.
Although showers will occur on this day, the heatwave warnings issued for the Gwangju and Jeonnam areas are expected to remain in effect, according to the Meteorological Administration.
Currently, a heatwave advisory is in effect for Gwangju and Jeonnam (excluding Mokpo, Geomundo, Chodo, Heuksando, and Hongdo).
Some places may experience a heat index rising above 33 degrees Celsius until the 12th. As humidity decreases, the heat index may fall below the actual temperature, leading to the easing or lifting of heatwave warnings in some areas.
A Meteorological Administration official urged, "Visibility is low and roads are slippery in areas where showers occur," and advised, "Please pay special attention to traffic safety."
