Yangcheon District Sinwol Youth Culture Center Creates 4th Industrial Revolution Experience Play Education Space
Various Programs for Youth Including Convergence Coding, Artificial Intelligence, VR Experience, and VR Operation Clubs
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Yangcheon-gu (Mayor Kim Soo-young) recently completed the establishment of the creativity growth playground "Sinwol Maker Space," an experiential play education space for the 4th Industrial Revolution, at the Sinwol Youth Culture Center. They plan to operate various digital-related programs for youth.
The creativity growth playground "Sinwol Maker Space" was created using funds from the aircraft noise countermeasure resident support project and district funds (43.4 million KRW). The media cafe (approximately 75㎡) within the Sinwol Youth Culture Center was remodeled, and VR virtual reality devices and educational PCs were installed.
The district plans to offer programs such as convergence coding education that teaches software technology of the 4th Industrial Revolution and computational thinking using PCs. These programs cover principles of the Internet of Things and artificial intelligence, which already occupy many parts of our lives.
In particular, the "VR (HTC VIVE) Room," where local youth can engage with interest, will provide virtual reality experiences and vocational training using computer graphics and video technology. Various activities, including the operation of a VR club aimed at nurturing future talents in the science and technology fields, will be conducted in a substantial manner.
The creativity growth playground "Sinwol Maker Space" will undergo a pilot operation in August, with plans to extend the operation period later. Youth wishing to use the facility can apply online, by phone, or in person at the Sinwol Youth Culture Center.

Kim Soo-young, Mayor of Yangcheon-gu, said, "The newly established 'Sinwol Maker Space' will be a dream space where youth can nurture their imagination and talents to grow into creative convergence talents." He added, "We will continue to discover diverse and substantial educational content so that our youth can freely enjoy and nurture their dreams, making Yangcheon-gu a 'cradle of future talents.'"
