On the 9th, the leadership of the Justice Party launched a "Protest to Urge Denial of Vice Chairman Lee's Parole for Equality Before the Law" in front of the Gwacheon Government Complex, where the Ministry of Justice is located.
At the scene, not only the Justice Party but also civic groups such as the Korean Progressive Coalition participated, adding their voices against Vice Chairman Lee's parole.
On the day, Justice Party leader Yeo Young-guk commented on the parole review committee's examination of Vice Chairman Lee, stating, "Lee Jae-yong's parole is a trick to reduce President Moon Jae-in's political burden," and added, "This is a moment that may confirm the deep-rooted judicial distrust that only those with money can avoid paying for their crimes, institutionalizing 'unequal justice,' and that the country is not one where all are equal before the law, but only a select few."
Youth Justice Party leader Kang Min-jin, who began a solo protest opposing Vice Chairman Lee's parole, also expressed her determination not to leave in front of the Ministry of Justice until a decision of 'denial of Lee Jae-yong's release' is made.
Leader Kang said, "It was the power of the candlelight protests, which the people unitedly participated in, that led to the arrest of Samsung Vice Chairman Lee Jae-yong, who seemed untouchable regardless of the crimes committed," and criticized, "If Lee Jae-yong is released, the Moon Jae-in administration must relinquish its name as a candlelight government."
