Ministry of Unification Keeps All Options Open for Humanitarian Aid to North Korea Regarding Flood Damage
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo In-ho] The Ministry of Unification recently announced that it will keep all possibilities of inter-Korean aid open and discuss humanitarian cooperation measures in response to the flood damage mainly occurring in Hamgyongnam-do, North Korea.
At a regular briefing on the 9th, Lee Jong-joo, spokesperson for the Ministry of Unification, responded regarding the government's willingness and methods for humanitarian aid for the recent flood damage in North Korea, saying, "The basic stance is that humanitarian cooperation between South and North Korea will continue regardless of political and military situations."

View original imageThe spokesperson emphasized regarding the aid methods, "We will keep all possibilities open, including support through authorities, civilians, and international organizations, and assess the damage situation and aid demands in North Korea," adding, "We will determine specific cooperation plans through consultations between South and North Korea and with the international community."
He added, "We will prepare cooperation measures that can practically improve the humanitarian situation of North Korean residents affected by the flood damage."
However, the spokesperson stated that North Korea has not shared flood-related information with the South through the restored inter-Korean joint liaison office channel since the 27th of last month.
