Gwangyang-si, Additional National Support Fund Payment for Low-Income Groups
Gwangyang-si Provides 680 Million Won Support for Legally Low-Income Households
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Heo Seon-sik] Gwangyang City, Jeonnam announced on the 9th that it will provide an additional lump sum payment of 100,000 KRW per person to the representative accounts of low-income households on August 24th to alleviate the financial burden of low-income families struggling due to COVID-19.
This is part of the 5th government disaster relief fund project and targets approximately 6,800 legally low-income individuals in Gwangyang City (as of August 2021). It is a one-time temporary support project.
Households receiving monthly welfare benefits such as basic living and housing benefits, next-lowest disabled pension, and single-parent recipients receiving child-rearing expenses, with registered accounts, will receive the payment in a lump sum to the household representative account without a separate application.
For those not registered with welfare benefit accounts (such as basic medical benefits, next-lowest self-pay reduction, etc.), from August 13th to September 10th, each eup, myeon, and dong office will sequentially contact the recipients individually to confirm their accounts.
However, recipients who do not answer the phone or wish to apply in person may visit the eup, myeon, or dong office while complying with social distancing and quarantine guidelines to apply.
The additional national support fund for low-income households is scheduled to be paid in a lump sum on August 24th, and those with account errors who did not receive payment and newly protected legally low-income individuals in August will receive additional payments on September 15th.
