386 New COVID-19 Cases in Seoul by 6 PM... 9 Fewer Than a Week Ago
[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Hyunjin] The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced that the number of new COVID-19 cases in Seoul was 386 from midnight to 6 p.m. on Saturday, the 7th, according to a preliminary tally. This is 35 fewer than the previous day and 9 fewer than last Saturday (July 31) during the same time period.
The daily number of confirmed cases in Seoul set record highs earlier this month, with 583 cases on the 6th and 638 cases on the 13th, and then the daily average exceeded 500 before the spread somewhat slowed down. Over the recent 15 days (July 23 to August 6), the daily average number of positive cases in Seoul was 450.
As of 6 p.m. on the day, among the 386 new confirmed cases in Seoul, 7 were imported cases, and the remaining 379 were domestic transmissions. New confirmed cases related to ongoing major cluster infections in Seoul included 5 cases at an indoor sports facility in Seodaemun-gu (August), 2 cases at a sauna in Dongjak-gu (July), 1 case at a religious facility in Dongjak-gu (July), and 1 case at a restaurant in Mapo-gu (second cluster in July), with an additional 11 cases from other cluster infections.
Among the new confirmed cases not managed as cluster infections, 210 cases were confirmed contacts of existing confirmed patients, and 140 cases with unclear infection routes are under investigation.

Accordingly, the cumulative number of COVID-19 confirmed cases in Seoul was preliminarily tallied at 67,808 as of this time. Two additional deaths were identified on the day, increasing the cumulative death toll among confirmed cases in Seoul to 542.
