Volleyball Federation Awards Additional 100 Million Won Encouragement Fund to National Team for Reaching Top 4
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyung-min] The Korea Volleyball Federation (KOVO) announced on the 5th that it will provide an additional encouragement fund of 100 million KRW to the women's volleyball national team, which succeeded in advancing to the semifinals of the Tokyo Olympics, in addition to the existing prize money.
KOVO had planned to award 500 million KRW for a gold medal, 300 million KRW for a silver medal, 200 million KRW for a bronze medal, and 100 million KRW for fourth place as Olympic prize money.
However, as the national team achieved the remarkable feat of reaching the semifinals for the first time in nine years since the 2012 London Olympics, inspiring the public, KOVO and the clubs agreed to make an additional decision to encourage them.

The national team, which secured a spot in the semifinals with a 3-2 victory over Turkey on the 4th, will receive an additional 100 million KRW encouragement fund, bringing their minimum total to 200 million KRW. The team, challenging for a medal for the first time in 45 years since the bronze medal at the 1976 Montreal Olympics, will compete against Brazil at 9 PM on the 6th for a place in the final.
