COVID-19 Cases Confirmed at Gangwon Bukbu Prison and Busan Prison
[Asia Economy Reporter Baek Kyunghwan] COVID-19 cases are continuously emerging in correctional facilities nationwide.
According to the Ministry of Justice on the 4th, one employee of Gangwon Bukbu Prison who underwent a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test due to a sore throat symptom the previous day was confirmed positive on the same day. Consequently, Gangwon Bukbu Prison has quarantined 29 contact employees and 26 inmates and is conducting PCR tests on all employees and approximately 500 inmates, awaiting the results.
On the same day, one employee of Busan Prison was also confirmed positive. This employee had taken sick leave and had not reported to work since the 23rd of last month, so there is no epidemiological connection with Busan Prison.

Meanwhile, Daejeon Prison, where one employee was confirmed positive at the end of last month, conducted diagnostic tests on all employees and approximately 3,200 inmates over two days, all of whom tested negative.
