Lee Jae-myung Joins Open Camp as Co-Chief of Election Committee with Five-Term Byeon Jae-il
[Asia Economy Reporter Koo Chae-eun] Byun Jae-il, one of the most senior lawmakers of the Democratic Party of Korea, will co-lead the presidential primary campaign of Gyeonggi Province Governor Lee Jae-myung.
Lee Jae-myung's Open Camp announced on the 4th that Byun joined the campaign as co-chief of the campaign committee, following Woo Won-shik.
Byun also declared his support on Facebook that day, saying, "I believe candidate Lee Jae-myung is the right person to practice growth, fairness, and innovation in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution's great transformation," and "I will work together for the successful conclusion of the Moon Jae-in administration and the establishment of the 4th democratic government." Byun served as Vice Minister of the Ministry of Information and Communication under the Roh Moo-hyun administration and was elected five consecutive terms as the Open Uri Party candidate in Cheongwon, Chungbuk.
