[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-joo] The police have launched a full-scale investigation into the so-called 'X-file,' which contains unverified allegations related to former Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol.
The Anti-Corruption and Public Crime Investigation Unit of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency summoned Lee Jong-bae, the representative of the Action Alliance for Restoring the Rule of Law (Beopse-ryeon), on the afternoon of the 4th for questioning as a complainant.
Before appearing at the police station, Lee stated, "This 'X-file' case is not merely a verification offensive that could occur during the presidential election process, but a vile political conspiracy aimed at winning the election through illegal and unfair means," adding, "It is essential to reveal who created the 'X-file,' for what reasons, and who is behind it in order to protect democracy."

Earlier, Beopse-ryeon filed complaints with the prosecution against the unidentified creator of the 'X-file' for defamation due to spreading false information, and against Song Young-gil, the leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, who had stated that he was "carefully preparing files related to former Prosecutor General Yoon," for abuse of authority and obstruction of the exercise of rights. The police received the case from the prosecution in early last month.
