View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Na Ye-eun] Former Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol stated on the morning of the 3rd at the People Power Party central office, in response to a reporter's question about the criticism that "his remarks were unrefined," "Since I am new to politics, I think that's the case," and added, "I plan to be much more careful about such matters going forward."
He said, "As a prosecutor, my job was to persuade the court, the organization's leadership, and my team members. Politics is a bit different, and I think I caused misunderstandings by explaining things in detail with examples."
Earlier, on the 2nd, Yoon appeared as a speaker at a meeting of first-term party lawmakers and said, "(A presidential bid) is personally an unfortunate matter and a path to 'ruin'." In a media interview, he made remarks such as "People without money should be able to eat cheaply, even below the level of substandard food," which drew intense criticism.
Regarding the low birthrate issue, he also said, "There is talk that feminism is being politically exploited too much, and it even emotionally blocks healthy relationships between men and women."
