[Muan＝Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Oh Hwan-joo] Muan County, Jeollanam-do (Governor Kim San) is promoting the establishment of an aviation-specialized industrial complex near Muan International Airport in Piseori, Mangun-myeon to develop the aircraft maintenance industry as a regionally specialized industry.

According to the county on the 3rd, the industrial complex will house not only aircraft maintenance companies but also various aviation-related businesses such as aircraft parts, logistics, in-flight meals, and aircraft information services.

Currently, South Korea's dependence on overseas aircraft maintenance is about 54%, with a market size exceeding 1.3 trillion KRW, indicating a very high overseas dependence and a severe shortage of domestic aircraft maintenance companies.

Therefore, once the aviation-specialized industrial complex is established, it is expected to expand the domestic market share of aircraft maintenance and logistics industries, actively attract excellent companies by utilizing Muan International Airport's infrastructure, provide quality jobs, revitalize the local economy, and serve as a future growth engine and new source of income for Muan.

Governor Kim San said, “If the industrial complex is completed as planned next year and the second phase of the Honam High-Speed Railway construction is finished, Muan is expected to become a genuine aviation industry hub equipped with an international airport and industrial complex. We will do our best to create a vibrant Muan where young people want to come, a happy city where people want to live, and an open future where dreams come true.”
