Inter-Korean Connection of International Merchant Ship Common Network Between Naval Vessels
[Asia Economy Yang Nak-gyu, Military Specialist Reporter]North Korea responded on the 3rd to the South's naval vessel call via the International Maritime Common Network (hotline). This comes seven days after the restoration of the West Sea military communication line on the 27th of last month.
Defense Ministry spokesperson Boo Seung-chan stated at the regular briefing that "The East and West Sea communication lines are operating normally, and the West Sea International Maritime Common Network also received a response from the North this morning."
Until now, unlike the East and West Sea communication lines, the North had not responded to calls made by the South on the International Maritime Common Network for about 30 minutes during scheduled times in the morning and afternoon.
With the normal operation of the military communication lines in the East and West Sea areas as well as the hotline between naval vessels, the inter-Korean military communication channels have been fully restored. North Korea is also providing detailed information to the South about foreign vessels illegally fishing near the Northern Limit Line (NLL) in the West Sea.
