[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Yuri] Emart announced on the 3rd that it will conduct pre-order sales of Chuseok gift sets for 33 days from the 5th of this month to the 6th of next month. During the pre-order sales period this Chuseok, customers purchasing with event cards (a total of 14 types) will receive up to a 40% discount, and depending on the purchase amount during the period, Shinsegae gift certificates worth up to 15% of the purchase amount will be given.
Emart stated, "As this is the third holiday since the spread of COVID-19, we plan to provide untact (non-face-to-face) services during this Chuseok gift set sales period as well."
Last Chuseok, Emart introduced services to minimize face-to-face contact, including the 'Visit Order Service' where staff visit customers directly, the 'Simple Gift Set Purchase Service' on the Emart application that allows customers to check gift set estimates and generate payment barcodes, and the 'Delivery Address Input Service' that registers delivery addresses in bulk for parcel shipments.
Emart explained that the face-to-face minimization services gained great popularity immediately after launch and successfully settled in the market. Emart said, "Developing Chuseok gift set services centered on customer safety for a safe holiday had a significant effect."
The 'Visit Order Service' was first introduced last Chuseok and recorded sales of about 1.8 billion KRW, gaining attention for its advantage of allowing customers to consult and pay easily without waiting for direct face-to-face consultations with unspecified many people. This Lunar New Year, sales increased by about 40% to 2.5 billion KRW.
The 'Delivery Address Input Service' also saw the number of cases increase more than fivefold from 1,500 last Chuseok to about 8,500 this Lunar New Year. The reduction in waiting time for set delivery at stores and the elimination of the hassle of writing delivery address lists on paper were cited as key factors.
Additionally, the number of uses of the Simple Gift Set Purchase Service, which allows easy estimate checking via the Emart app and quick payment at Emart stores without waiting, exceeded 25,000 combined for last Chuseok and this Lunar New Year.
