Due to the rain, temperatures will be slightly lower than last week, but high humidity will make the heat feel persistent.
The Korea Meteorological Administration forecasted that, influenced by a pressure trough moving northeast over the West Sea, rain will fall on the 2nd in Gangwon Province, Chungcheong region, and southern areas, and on the following day in the central region, Jeolla region, and Jeju Island.
During this period, localized rain clouds will develop strongly, bringing gusts of wind and thunder and lightning, with heavy rain exceeding 30 mm per hour.
In particular, on the afternoon of the 3rd, very heavy rain of 50 mm per hour and total rainfall exceeding 100 mm may occur in southern Gyeonggi and northern Chungnam, possibly prompting heavy rain warnings.
Expected rainfall amounts are 30?80 mm (over 100 mm in some areas) in southern Gyeonggi and northern Chungnam; 10?60 mm (over 80 mm in some parts of Jeolla) in the metropolitan area (excluding southern Gyeonggi), inland and mountainous areas of Gangwon, Chungcheong region (excluding northern Chungnam), Jeolla region, Gyeongsang region (excluding southern coastal areas of Gyeongnam), and Jeju Island; and 5?40 mm along the eastern coast of Gangwon and southern coastal areas of Gyeongnam.
Due to unstable atmospheric conditions, during the daytime of the 3rd, gusty winds and thunderstorm showers accompanied by lightning are expected mainly in the Chungcheong region, southern areas, and mountainous areas of Jeju Island, with similar conditions occurring from the night of the same day to the early morning of the 4th in the central region and northern inland areas of Gyeongbuk.
On the afternoon of the 4th, showers will occur in inland and mountainous areas of Gangwon, southern Chungcheong region, southern inland areas, and Jeju Island.
The Korea Meteorological Administration emphasized, "Strong localized rain or showers are expected in most parts of the country until the 4th, raising concerns about significant damage, so please prepare sufficiently in advance."
Although somewhat eased compared to last week, heatwaves and tropical nights will continue.
With heatwave warnings in effect nationwide, daytime temperatures will hover around 33 degrees Celsius for the time being, and the perceived temperature will rise above 35 degrees Celsius mainly along the eastern coast of Gangwon and the Gyeongsang region, making it very hot. Tropical nights will occur in urban areas, coastal regions, and Jeju Island.
On the 3rd, the morning low temperatures by region are expected to be 22?27 degrees Celsius, and the daytime highs 29?33 degrees Celsius.
