Professional Golfer Lee Somi Serves as Wando-gun Public Relations Ambassador for 2 Years

[Wando＝Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Kyung-pil] Jeonnam Wando-gun (Governor Shin Woo-cheol) announced on the 2nd that they have appointed KLPGA professional golfer Lee So-mi, a rising star in women's golf and a native of Wando-gun, as a promotional ambassador for Wando-gun.

The appointment ceremony was held in compliance with COVID-19 prevention guidelines, with only a small number of attendees including the player, her family, and related staff.

Lee So-mi, originally from Jukcheong-ri, Wando, began playing golf seriously inspired by the achievements of professional golfer Choi Kyung-ju. This year, she achieved first place at the KLPGA Tour Lotte Rent-a-Car Women's Open and has shown remarkable results in numerous tournaments.

A Wando-gun official stated, “Lee So-mi is a promising future player following professional golfer Choi Kyung-ju from Wando, and we appointed her as a promotional ambassador to widely promote Wando-gun.”

Lee So-mi said, “I am honored to be appointed as a promotional ambassador for my hometown Wando-gun, and it is no exaggeration to say that 80% of my golf skills were nurtured by the clean sea breeze of Wando,” referring to Wando’s environment, which is optimal for golf practice.

Governor Shin Woo-cheol expressed, “I am proud that an outstanding professional golfer following Choi Kyung-ju has emerged from Wando-gun. Although there are many difficulties recently due to COVID-19, I hope all Wando residents will unite in support so that Lee So-mi can perform well.”

Lee So-mi will serve as a promotional ambassador for Wando-gun for the next two years, participating in domestic and international activities and various major events to continue promotional efforts to raise the status of Wando-gun.
