Although this number is significantly lower than the 37 cases reported the previous day, the fact that the cases are evenly spread across 10 cities and counties with 1 to 4 cases each poses a risk factor for further spread.
According to Gyeongbuk Province on the 31st, as of midnight, the cumulative number of confirmed cases in the Gyeongbuk area increased by 19 from the previous day to 5,456 (including 196 imported cases).
By region, confirmed cases are 4 in Pohang City, 3 each in Gyeongju City and Gumi City, 2 each in Gimcheon City and Andong City, and 1 each in Sangju City, Mungyeong City, Gyeongsan City, Chilgok County, and Uljin County.
The 4 new confirmed cases in Pohang City are contacts of a previously confirmed case (Pohang case number 742) diagnosed on the 25th. Another case is a friend of a confirmed case from Suwon City, Gyeonggi Province, diagnosed on the 27th. One more case was confirmed through a preemptive test after visiting another region, and the infection route of the remaining case is unknown.
Among the 3 new confirmed cases in Gyeongju City, one is a friend of Gyeongju case number 524 confirmed the previous day, another is a friend of a confirmed case from Ulsan City, and the infection route of the remaining case is unidentified.
Among the 3 new confirmed cases in Gumi City, one is a contact of the confirmed case (Gumi case number 723) from the previous day, another is a friend of a confirmed case from Ansan City, Gyeonggi Province, confirmed on the 30th, and the infection route of the remaining case is unknown.
Among the 2 new confirmed cases in Gimcheon City, one is a contact of Gimcheon case number 341 confirmed the previous day, and the other tested positive after visiting a screening clinic with symptoms.
Among the 2 new confirmed cases in Andong City, one is a contact of Andong case number 304 confirmed on the 30th, and the other was confirmed positive after testing at a screening clinic due to symptoms.
In Sangju City, one contact of a confirmed case (Sangju case number 142) diagnosed on the 26th tested positive while in self-quarantine, and in Mungyeong City, a contact of a confirmed case (Mungyeong case number 50) diagnosed on the 29th tested positive.
In Gyeongsan City, a contact of a confirmed case (Daegu Buk-gu) diagnosed on the 29th tested positive; in Chilgok County, a contact of Gumi case number 723 confirmed on the 29th tested positive; and in Uljin County, a contact of Uljin case number 21 confirmed on the 24th tested positive.
