Reporter Yu Hyeongdong of AI Times Wins '2021 Internet Newspaper Press Award'
'Solar Power: Technology Saving the Earth' Series Report
Praised for Contributing to Awareness Improvement and Proposed Amendment Legislation
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Reporter Yoo Hyungdong of AI Times won the Korea Internet Newspaper Association's '2021 Internet Newspaper Journalism Award.'
On the 29th, according to the Korea Internet Newspaper Association, the association selected Yoo's series of reports titled 'Solar Power: Technology Saving the Earth' as the winning work in the reporting category.
Reporter Yoo was praised for being the first in the domestic media to introduce the agrivoltaic system, contributing to improving awareness of the domestic solar power industry and the proposal of related law amendments to the National Assembly.
He also received positive evaluations for discovering various forms of article content such as video reports, reporter's notebooks, and special roundtable discussions.
Reporter Yoo stated, "Rural areas, including the Jeonnam region, face serious 'poverty' issues due to population decline. In this context, agrivoltaics has emerged as one of the alternatives to help revitalize rural communities. However, recently, distorted articles have been proliferating, and I felt the need to correct this while covering the field with the mindset of solving contemporary challenges."
He added, "I believe that reporting on solar power that revitalizes rural areas is something that someone must do. I will continue reporting on agrivoltaics until rural areas become better places to live."
Meanwhile, the Korea Internet Newspaper Association annually awards the Internet Newspaper Journalism Award to boost the pride of internet journalists and contribute to the continuous development of internet newspapers and the qualitative improvement of journalism.
