Gwangyang City Council General Affairs and Industry Committee Reviews Supplementary Budget Proposal of Relevant Departments
21 Preliminary Reviews of the 1st Supplementary Budget Bill Result in Cuts of 1,142 Million Won
[Gwangyang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] The General Affairs Committee (Chairman Choi Dae-won) and the Industry and Construction Committee (Chairman Jeong Min-gi) of the Gwangyang City Council in Jeollanam-do announced on the 28th that they reviewed the 2021 First Supplementary Budget Proposal over two days from the 26th to the 27th.
According to the agenda of each standing committee, the review began with a proposal explanation from the Planning and Budget Office, followed by budget explanations and Q&A sessions with heads of each department, and proceeded with adjustments of figures.
The committee members, who started the review, cut the budget considering that this supplementary budget was delayed by three months compared to usual, focusing on the urgency and effectiveness of the budget. Above all, they concentrated on whether the budget was allocated timely and appropriately to respond to COVID-19, support citizens' livelihoods, and revitalize the local economy.
As a result of the review, the General Affairs Committee cut 8 items totaling 123 million KRW, and the Industry and Construction Committee cut 13 items totaling 1,018 million KRW.
The preliminary reviewed supplementary budget proposal will undergo review by the Special Budget and Accounts Committee on the 28th and 29th, and will be submitted to the 2nd plenary session held on the 30th for final approval.
Meanwhile, the scale of the First Supplementary Budget Proposal is 1.1304 trillion KRW, which is an increase of 117.5 billion KRW compared to the original budget of 1.0129 trillion KRW. Among this, the general account increased by 98.4 billion KRW to 900.3 billion KRW, and the special account increased by 19.1 billion KRW to 230.1 billion KRW.
