This crackdown began with educational activities such as attaching warning notices to illegally overnight-parked vehicles on the 21st, and by the 23rd, 36 vehicles (20 construction machinery, 12 cargo trucks, 4 buses) were caught illegally parked overnight in areas with many safety hazard complaints and high risk of traffic accidents due to obstructed driver visibility on side roads in densely populated residential and apartment areas.
In particular, parking construction machinery and large cargo vehicles near residential areas, roads, and vacant lots not only obstructs vehicle traffic but also blocks driver visibility, potentially causing major traffic accidents. As a result, complaints about illegal overnight parking have continuously been raised by residents.
Accordingly, Yeongam-gun formed its own enforcement team to regularly conduct both educational activities and crackdowns to prevent illegal parking of construction machinery and commercial cargo trucks and buses overnight.

A Yeongam-gun official stated, “When illegal overnight parking is detected, construction machinery is fined between 50,000 and 300,000 KRW depending on the number of offenses, while cargo trucks and buses may face fines between 200,000 and 300,000 KRW or a 5-day suspension of operation depending on the number of offenses. Through the crackdown on illegal overnight parking, we aim to secure driver visibility, prevent major traffic accidents, and continue educational activities and enforcement until a safe residential environment is improved.”
