According to Wando-gun on the 28th, the "Let's All Pause Together Campaign" requests residents to refrain from visiting other regions and meeting outsiders during the summer vacation period, and especially appeals to hometown visitors to postpone their visits temporarily.
This campaign is a preemptive response to prevent local infections caused by the expected influx of many visitors to the county during the vacation season, following the elevation of social distancing in the metropolitan area to Level 4, and to prevent hometown visitors from various parts of the country from spreading infections.
Recently, COVID-19 confirmed cases have occurred mainly in island areas of Wando-gun, and infection cases have been traced to contact with confirmed patients from other regions.
In particular, if a confirmed case occurs on an island, the entire island is exposed to risk, so the county is on high alert. Additionally, visits by confirmed patients from other regions cannot be taken lightly.
Therefore, to curb the spread during the summer vacation, the governor sent a letter directly appealing to residents and hometown visitors to participate in the campaign, and the hometown associations are also encouraging participation by sending an appeal jointly signed by nationwide hometown association presidents to 300,000 hometown visitors.
The towns and townships are independently establishing and implementing quarantine measures tailored to their characteristics for the summer vacation period, and plan to reinforce a thorough quarantine network by rechecking disinfection at major tourist sites such as beaches, waiting rooms, and passenger ships, which are multi-use facilities.
To prevent movement for grave clearing during the summer vacation and Chuseok holidays from becoming a catalyst for COVID-19 spread, a "Grave Clearing Proxy Service" will be provided.
Governor Shin Woo-cheol said, "Although everyone is tired and going through difficult times due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, we must never lower our vigilance because we do not know when, where, or how we might be infected," and added, "I hope everyone will participate in the pause campaign to protect our safety."
He also urged, "Please wear masks indoors and outdoors without exception, and refrain as much as possible from visiting other regions, meeting outsiders, and private gatherings."
