Gwangju Seo-gu Conducts Child-Friendly City 'NaroButeo Challenge'
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Shin Dong-ho] Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Seo Dae-seok) has attracted attention by conducting the child-friendly city promotion campaign "Starting with Me" challenge from April to this month in collaboration with the social welfare corporation Good Neighbors Gwangju Jeonnam Regional Headquarters (hereinafter referred to as Good Neighbors) to create a happy region for children.
According to Seo-gu on the 28th, the "Starting with Me" challenge is a socio-cultural movement in which Seo-gu public officials take the lead to show interest and effort starting with themselves to make Seo-gu a better place for children to live.
This challenge was carried out by a total of 18 participants, including Seo Dae-seok, Mayor of Seo-gu, Jeong Soon-ae, Vice Chairman of Gwangju Metropolitan Council, Kim Tae-young, Chairman of Seo-gu Council, Park Young-sook, Vice Chairman of Seo-gu Council, Kim Soo-young, Seo-gu Council member, and other city and district council members and public officials, through writing messages and taking photos to promote the creation of a child-friendly city.
Seo-gu plans to continuously promote child-friendly city and child rights promotion campaigns in cooperation with Good Neighbors.
Various child-friendly city specialized projects such as "Child Rights Education Visiting Schools," "Know Seo-gu! Youth Bus Tour," and "Child Rights Drawing Contest" will also be promoted.
Meanwhile, Seo-gu, after receiving the first UNICEF Child-Friendly City certification in 2017, has selected 40 strategic projects across 17 departments out of 165 child-related projects to further advance child-friendly related projects to a higher level as the certification period approaches expiration, and applied for re-certification at a higher stage of the child-friendly city last month.
