[Asia Economy Reporter Ki Ha-young] In Tokyo, where the Olympics are being held, the daily number of COVID-19 cases has reached a record high.
Public broadcaster NHK reported that 2,848 new COVID-19 cases were reported in Tokyo Metropolis on the 27th. This is an increase of 1,461 cases compared to a week ago and surpasses the previous record of 2,520 cases set on January 7 of this year.
More than two weeks have passed since the fourth state of emergency was declared in Tokyo, but the speed of infection spread is accelerating.
