Kim Je-deok aimed for a triple crown in his first Olympic appearance but unfortunately fell short. He had previously won a gold medal in the mixed team event alongside An San (Gwangju Women's University), and also secured a gold medal in the men's team event with Oh Jin-hyek (Hyundai Steel) and Kim Woo-jin (Cheongju City Hall), making him a double gold medalist.
