Hoam Foundation Holds Online Youth Lecture Series Featuring Hoam Prize Winners and Eminent Scholars
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyewon] The Hoam Foundation announced on the 27th that it will hold an online youth lecture series for teenagers nationwide during the summer vacation from August 2 to 5 for four days via Zoom and YouTube.
The Hoam Foundation has annually visited major universities and high schools across the country around the Samsung Hoam Prize award ceremony to hold lectures presenting dreams and visions to young people. However, due to the spread of COVID-19, no in-person lectures were held last year.
This year, the event has been converted into an ontact (online contact) event featuring top-level domestic speakers, allowing teenagers nationwide, who have lost opportunities for on-site and field learning during the summer vacation, to participate safely and comfortably from home.
The Hoam Foundation online youth lecture series, held for the first time this year, will feature a total of 12 scholars, including Samsung Hoam Prize laureates, who will give lectures and participate in panel discussions on various topics such as future advanced technology, humanities, climate change, creative thinking, and social contribution.
On the first day, August 2, under the theme of "Artificial Intelligence," experts in the future AI field?Professor Jeong Jihoon of DGIST, Chair Professor Oh Junho of KAIST, and CEO Lee Kyungil of Saltlux?will conduct lectures and panel discussions.
On the second day, August 3, under the theme of "Humanities and Arts," classical critic Professor Hong Seungchan of Korea National University of Arts, global affairs expert Kim Jiyoon, senior research fellow at the Democracy Research Institute, and Professor Jeong Jaechan of Hanyang University will participate as speakers.
On August 4, under the theme of "Post-COVID and Climate Change," social analyst Kim Yongseop, director of the Sharp Power Imagination Research Institute, world-renowned synthetic biology expert Professor Lee Sangyeop of KAIST, and broadcaster Tyler Rasch, who has shown great interest in environmental issues, will share knowledge with the youth.
On the final day, August 5, under the theme of "Happiness and Sharing," Google Executive Director Kim Taewon, social service activist Kim Hajong, CEO of Anna’s House, and writer Hasangwook will give lectures and participate in discussions.
Among the speakers participating in this youth lecture series, Chair Professor Oh Junho of KAIST, Distinguished Professor Lee Sangyeop of KAIST, and CEO Kim Hajong of Anna’s House have previously received the Samsung Hoam Prize.
The event will be hosted by science YouTuber Lee Hyojong, popular among teenagers, and Seo Misorang, a popular announcer from EBS and other English broadcasts.
The lectures will be available for anyone to watch on the Hoam Foundation’s YouTube channel, and teenagers who register in advance through the Eventus website by August 1 can participate in Q&A sessions and panel discussions via Zoom.

The Hoam Foundation plans to make the lecture videos available on YouTube even after the event and will also produce and distribute booklets.
