Boseong-gun Surpasses 60% COVID-19 Vaccination Rate Among All Residents
Vaccination Rate for Seniors Aged 60 and Over Reaches 91% with Strong Incentive Effect
[Boseong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Park Cheon-seok] Jeollanam-do Boseong-gun (Governor Kim Cheol-woo) announced on the 26th that as of the 24th, the first dose vaccination rate for COVID-19 among eligible recipients (aged 18 and over) has surpassed 60.1%.
In particular, the first dose vaccination rate among seniors aged 60 and over is 91%, meaning 9 out of 10 have been vaccinated.
The total number of vaccine recipients (aged 18 and over) in Boseong-gun is 36,242, of which 21,779 people, or 60.1%, have completed the first dose.
The number of people who have completed the second dose is 9,899, accounting for 27.3%.
Since the 19th, the county has been administering Pfizer vaccines to high school seniors and school staff, and starting from the 26th, vaccinations began for the 55-59 age group and voluntary vaccination recipients.
Additionally, to start voluntary vaccinations for the 18 to 49 age group next month, demand surveys have been completed, and the county is currently awaiting vaccine allocation.
A county official stated, "Participation in vaccination by adults aged 50 and over, who are socially active, is the most important factor for COVID-19 prevention and herd immunity formation." He added, "22% of the 50s age group have completed at least the first dose through first and second quarter vaccination targets or leftover vaccines, and it is expected that over 90% of people in their 50s will participate in vaccination."
Governor Kim Cheol-woo of Boseong-gun said, "In this severe situation where the fourth wave is rapidly progressing, we will do our utmost in COVID-19 prevention and vaccination to overcome these difficult times." He continued, "Above all, I sincerely thank all the residents who actively participated in vaccination, and we will continue to consider ways to revitalize the local economy."
Meanwhile, the county has become the first nationwide to enact an ordinance related to COVID-19 vaccine vaccination incentives, providing an incentive of 20,000 KRW per person to those who have completed vaccination since the 1st of this month. Various measures to increase vaccination rates and revive the local economy are being devised and applied on site.
