[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters reporters Kim Yong-woo and Park Sae-yan] Former Gyeongnam Governor Kim Kyung-soo, whose conviction for conspiracy in the 'Druking comment manipulation' case was finalized, was re-incarcerated at Changwon Prison on the 26th.
Tensions escalated as both supporters and opponents gathered in front of Changwon Prison ahead of his imprisonment.
On that day, about an hour before the arrival of both sides, they spread out on the left and right sides of the prison entrance, shouting slogans expressing support and opposition respectively.
The narrow entrance was packed with people, causing ongoing confusion.
When Kim’s vehicle arrived, the scene turned chaotic with a mix of insults, loud shouts, and slogans.
Some supporters were seen crying loudly and wailing.
Kim sat in the back of the car, opened the window, and lightly bowed his head to greet the supporters.
A member of the opposing group tried to jump onto Kim’s car while shouting insults but was restrained by the police.
Even while Kim was making remarks before entering the prison, loud voices from both groups continued.
Verbal abuse escalated between the two sides, nearly leading to a clash.
About 100 supporters and opposing citizens gathered in front of Changwon Prison from the morning on the day Kim was incarcerated.
Supporters waved hand signs saying “We will stand together until the end” and “The truth cannot be hidden,” shouting slogans like “Truth will prevail” and “Kim Kyung-soo is innocent.”
