Agreement for Restoration of Historic Artifact Gangjin-hyeon Guesthouse Geumnryeonggwan

Gangjin County in Jeollanam-do announced on the 26th that on the 23rd, it signed a business agreement with the County Council and Gangjin Police Station for the "Relocation of Gangjin Police Station and Restoration of Gangjin-hyeon Guesthouse Geumnryeonggwan."

This agreement was promoted after it became known that the former Gangjin-hyeon guesthouse "Geumnryeonggwan," which represented Gangjin County, once existed on the current Gangjin Police Station site, creating a consensus on the need to protect and restore this historic artifact for future generations.

Earlier, on the 30th of last month, the Citizens' Group for the Restoration of Gangjin Guesthouse Geumnryeonggwan (co-representatives Cha Bong-geun, Kang Young-seok, Ma Sam-seop, Wi Seong-sik) held a public forum on the 9th at the second floor of Gangjin Shinhan Credit Union to gather opinions on the restoration of Geumnryeonggwan. They are also continuously conducting campaigns such as signature drives and banner postings targeting residents.

The county promised to actively cooperate and support the purchase of the new police station site in consultation with the police station, exchange it with the current Gangjin Police Station site, and ensure that related budgets can be allocated with the Gangjin County Council and Gangjin Police Station.

County Governor Lee Seung-ok said, "With this agreement, the police station will be newly constructed and relocated, and the Gangjin-hyeon guesthouse Geumnryeonggwan will be restored, forming a tourism belt connecting Yeongnang Birthplace, Gangjin-hyeon Guesthouse Geumnryeonggwan, and Sa-uijae. It will also connect to Gangjin Montmartre Hill, becoming an important tourist resource for Gangjin." He added, "I welcome this agreement for the regional development and future of Gangjin County and will actively cooperate."
