'Mapo Officetel Colleague Murder' Man in 40s Sent to Prosecution... Charged with Robbery and Murder
[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Dong-hoon] A man in his 40s who was arrested on charges of murdering a former coworker and disposing of the body has been sent to the prosecution.
On the 23rd, the Mapo Police Station in Seoul announced that they had sent Mr. A, a man in his 40s suspected of robbery-murder, corpse disposal, and trespassing, to the prosecution with a recommendation for indictment.
According to the police, Mr. A is accused of killing the victim, a man in his 40s, with a weapon on the afternoon of the 13th at an officetel in Mapo-gu, Seoul, where the victim was working. After the crime, Mr. A wiped off the bloodstains, placed the body in a pre-prepared travel bag, moved to his residence in Gyeongsan, and disposed of the body in a septic tank, according to the investigation.
During the police investigation, it was revealed that Mr. A stated he went to find the victim, who had worked with him at a securities company, to borrow money, and killed him after being refused.

The police began the investigation after discovering evidence of murder while searching the officetel following a missing person report filed by the victim’s family. They identified Mr. A’s identity through closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage and tracked his movements. In cooperation with the Gyeongbuk Police Agency, they arrested him in Gyeongsan on the morning of the 15th.
