According to Jeollanam-do Council member Na Gwang-guk (Muan 2, Democratic Party) on the 22nd, Jeollanam-do held a residents' briefing session on the 20th at the Samhyang-eup Office meeting room regarding the "Detailed Design for the Widening and Expansion Construction of Namak-Imseong Section (Local Road No. 825)" to expedite the project.
The residents' briefing was conducted with fewer than 10 participants, including Council member Na Gwang-guk, village representatives, and development committee chairpersons, to prevent COVID-19 infection.
The Namak-Imseong section has caused inconvenience to vehicle traffic due to its narrow width and poor alignment despite a daily traffic volume of 10,000 vehicles, and residents' safety has been threatened due to the absence of sidewalks.
Although the plan was to widen and expand the road in connection with the development of Imseong District in 5 to 10 years, Council member Na pointed out these issues during the 2019 administrative audit of the Safety, Construction, and Fire Committee of Jeollanam-do Council (November 15, 2019), urging to actively consider methods such as upgrading to a provincial road and to prepare an early construction plan.
Since then, Council member Na has continuously monitored the progress and succeeded in reflecting the detailed design cost for the widening and expansion project as "100% funded by the province" and the inclusion of the road into Local Road No. 825.
At the residents' briefing, Council member Na Gwang-guk emphasized, "After collecting residents' opinions on the widening and expansion of the Namak-Imseong local road to create a safe and smooth traffic environment, we will promptly proceed to prevent traffic accidents and avoid inconvenience to residents' passage."
Meanwhile, the detailed design service for this local road widening and expansion project is scheduled to complete administrative procedures by June next year and then commence construction.
