Gyeongbuk Province Partners with Dutch Global Smart Agriculture Institution
World Horticulture Center and Lentiz Education Group Sign MOU for 'Smart Agriculture Exchange'
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongguk Lee] Gyeongbuk Province announced on the 21st that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for mutual exchange in smart agriculture with the World Horti Center, Lentiz Education Group, and Kyungpook National University, leaders in the global horticulture industry from the Netherlands.
According to the agreement, Gyeongbuk Province will establish a cooperative system covering intelligent agriculture, including technology research, education, and training of professionals related to smart agriculture.
The World Horti Center (WHC) is a leading institution with an innovative platform in smart agriculture-related business, education, and research. Lentiz Education Group is an agricultural specialized education institution consisting of 14 secondary and vocational schools.
Gyeongbuk Province is the first domestic institution to sign an MOU with the World Horti Center (WHC).
This agreement, which has been pursued since July last year and concluded in one year, was signed in two stages: a temporary contract and a main contract. It defines the scope of the agreement and specifies the implementation details for each clause.
The detailed contents include ▲ establishment and operation of the World Horti Center in South Korea ▲ cooperation with the World Horti Center for the development of smart agriculture in Gyeongsangbuk-do ▲ research on facility horticulture technology, education, and training of professional agents ▲ mutual cooperation such as dispatch and invitation for joint development of intelligent agriculture technology ▲ participation in institutions jointly promoted by Gyeongsangbuk-do and Kyungpook National University in the future.
Gyeongbuk Province’s 'Gyeongbuk Smart Farm Innovation Valley' in Sabal-myeon, Sangju City, scheduled for completion within the year, is expected to gain momentum in professional workforce training, technology exchange, and research project promotion through this agreement.

Governor Lee Cheol-woo said, "I hope this cooperation will serve as a foundation to raise the level of our smart agriculture, which is in its early stages." He added, "We plan to strive to spread and expand affordable and practical smart farms through exchanges in human resources and technology fields, as well as various convergence activities with private companies and academia."
