Gyeonggi-do Supports 'Demonstration Testing' of Technologies in Artificial Intelligence (AI) Field
6 Demonstration Designated Projects · 1 Free Project ... Total Support of 3.8 Billion Won
[Asia Economy Reporter La Young-cheol] Gyeonggi Province is promoting a project that allows artificial intelligence companies to apply products created with innovative technologies to real-world sites by utilizing the infrastructure of 'Pangyo Techno Valley.'
The province announced on the 21st that it will recruit participating companies for the "Artificial Intelligence (AI) Technology Demonstration Testbed Linked Demonstration Support Project" starting this year.
The core of the project is to create an 'AI demonstration ecosystem' that responds to the Fourth Industrial Revolution era by supporting AI companies to quickly verify and commercialize innovative products and services.
The support targets are small, medium, and large enterprises capable of AI technology demonstration in the fields of mobility, lifestyle convenience, and disaster safety. Companies currently conducting AI-related demonstration projects with other government, local governments, or public institutions during the project period are not eligible to participate.
Companies wishing to participate can select from six proposed tasks (REP) and one free task suggested by the province, and submit a business plan including a demonstration application plan using their technology and products through EasyBiz by August 20.
The six proposed tasks are pedestrian safety service at crosswalks, smart safe driving evaluation system, health management system, situation awareness and user-responsive display, abnormal behavior monitoring security, and AI-based river and reservoir monitoring and decision-making system.
For the free task, companies can propose technology demonstration application plans in the fields of mobility, lifestyle convenience, and disaster safety. Selected companies will conduct demonstrations using the infrastructure established around Pangyo Techno Valley.
To this end, the province will support a total of 3.8 billion KRW, ranging from 300 million KRW to a maximum of 700 million KRW per task, and participating companies must bear 25% of the total demonstration project cost.
The demonstration support period is until April next year, and if selected as an excellent service in the evaluation after eight months of demonstration, support will continue until 2023 at the latest.
Meanwhile, the province and the Ministry of Science and ICT plan to invest a total of 39 billion KRW by 2023, including 16.5 billion KRW this year, to establish an 'AI Technology Demonstration Testbed' in the Pangyo area that supports public participation technology demonstration evaluation and verification, professional testing, evaluation, and certification.
