Chosun University and Disabled eSports Federation Sign MOU to Promote Cultural Enjoyment Rights for Disabled People
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yoon Jamin] Chosun University and the Gwangju Disabled eSports Federation have joined hands to enhance the cultural enjoyment rights of people with disabilities in eSports.
On the 20th, Chosun University announced that it signed an agreement with the Gwangju Disabled eSports Federation to promote the participation of people with disabilities in eSports and to enhance their cultural enjoyment rights.
The signing ceremony was attended by Min Young-don, President of Chosun University, Yoo Soo-il, President of the Gwangju Disabled eSports Federation, and other officials.
The agreement was pursued with the aim of increasing access and participation of people with disabilities in game content and eliminating discrimination existing in cultural enjoyment rights.
The two organizations plan to mutually cooperate to foster the gaming culture industry and establish an international city for disabled eSports through various educational programs and tournaments for disabled eSports.
The detailed contents of the agreement include ▲ mutual sharing and cooperation on all matters necessary for revitalizing gaming culture for people with disabilities ▲ cooperation in the development of disabled eSports advancement and educational programs ▲ other matters agreed upon by both organizations.
President Min Young-don said, "eSports has infinite potential as a new cultural industry and a promising future business," adding, "I sincerely hope that the eSports industry will become a culture enjoyed by all citizens, both disabled and non-disabled, and further by the entire nation."
President Yoo Soo-il stated, "eSports is a field of opportunity where people with disabilities can compete freely without any barriers," and added, "With the goal of expanding the base of eSports and discovering and nurturing excellent players and coaches, we will serve as a bridge to a world without prejudice for people with disabilities."

Meanwhile, the Gwangju Disabled eSports Federation was launched last April to expand and revitalize the culture of disabled eSports in Gwangju. The university disabled eSports federation, to which the Gwangju federation belongs, was founded in 2008 and has continuously held various tournaments and forums since eSports was adopted as an official event in the National Disabled Students Sports Festival.
