Naju-si, All 1,054 Tested Negative in Mass Testing Related to Confirmed Cases
[Naju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yukbong] Naju City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Kang In-gyu) announced on the 19th that all 1,054 contacts related to six confirmed COVID-19 cases tested negative following comprehensive testing conducted on the 18th.
According to Naju City health authorities, six confirmed COVID-19 cases (Naju Nos. 111?116) were identified the previous day and were all transferred to the designated medical center on the same day.
The confirmed cases were tested at the Naju City Public Health Center screening clinic on the 17th.
Cases 111 and 112, residents of the Seoul metropolitan area, are colleagues who were on a business trip to Naju when they tested positive. They had contact with a colleague (Jeonnam No. 1751) who was confirmed positive on the 13th.
Cases 113 and 114 were also confirmed to be colleagues working at a company located in Gwangju Metropolitan City, and they had contact with a colleague (Gwangju No. 3119) who tested positive on the 17th.
Case 115, whose infection route is unclear, is an employee at a local company and was confirmed to have traveled between the Seoul metropolitan area and Naju since the 9th.
Case 116, the spouse of case 113, was recently confirmed to have had contact with students at a local elementary school, A Elementary School, related to their occupation.
Health authorities completed disinfection of residences, lodging facilities, workplaces, public and financial institutions, restaurants, cafes, and marts visited by the confirmed cases through epidemiological investigations including contact tracing and movement tracking.
All 1,054 contacts tested at A Elementary School (245 people), Bitgaram-dong temporary screening clinic (486 people), and Naju City Public Health Center screening clinic (323 people) on the 17th were confirmed negative.
An official from the health authorities said, “As the fourth wave centered in the Seoul metropolitan area is spreading nationwide, we ask that people refrain from visiting other regions as much as possible. We will focus all efforts on blocking further spread through rapid quarantine measures and epidemiological investigations.”
