On-Off Commerce Synergy Full-Scale, Emart Shopping Mall to Open on Naver
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Yuri] Emart and Naver (NAVER) have started their first collaboration since the share exchange in March by launching 'Small Business (SME) Branding.' They plan to strengthen on-offline commerce synergy in earnest, including launching Emart's shopping service on Naver in the second half of this year.
◆ Naver Food Window's Popular Foods Developed into Peacock Products
On the 19th, Emart announced that it will conduct the 'Local Specialty Challenge' project with Naver to discover local specialties from Food Window, develop them into branded products, and challenge offline distribution possibilities.
The 'Local Specialty' section of Naver Food Window features various meal kit products that allow customers to easily enjoy representative menus from distinctive restaurants nationwide at home. The two companies plan to select competitive SME products through applications and screening from a database of about 2,000 local specialty products and release them separately as 'Life Taste House' branded products with Emart Peacock's product development team.
The newly developed products will be available not only through Naver Emart's online shopping service but also at Emart stores nationwide. Through this, Food Window's local SME sellers will be able to secure new offline distribution channels.
The 'Local Specialty Challenge' will accept applications online and via documents from sellers listed in Naver Food Window's local specialty section until the 1st of next month. Afterward, products will be selected by evaluating user reviews, sales, product differentiation, etc., and through expert and consumer evaluations via Naver Shopping Live and exclusive online promotions.
◆ Emart Shopping Mall on Naver... On-Off Commerce Synergy in Full Swing
In the second half of the year, Emart plans to open on Naver's shopping service. Emart stated that the synergy of each company's strengths, such as Naver Plus Membership benefits and Emart's fresh food delivery service, will further enhance competitiveness in the online grocery shopping market.
They will also establish experiential pop-up shops within Emart stores. They plan to support unique local small business products such as handmade crafts and traditional liquors, which have met users nationwide through Naver, to expand customer touchpoints offline as well.
Kim Pyungsong, Naver's Head of Business Development, said, "Through a well-rounded project that commercializes excellent foods nationwide and secures distribution channels, we will provide growth opportunities for local SMEs and create new value in the industry. In the second half of the year, Naver and Emart will closely cooperate based on their technology, infrastructure, and branding experience to build differentiated competitiveness."
