Even Without Attending Kindergarten, Disaster Relief Funds Will Be Given to All... Busan City to Provide Disaster Relief Funds for Children Aged 3 to 5
100,000 KRW Per Person, Automatically Deposited into Child Allowance Guardian's Account
Cooperation with Busan Office of Education, Support Provided Simultaneously for Kindergarten-Attending Children
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] All children aged 3 to 5 in Busan will receive disaster relief funds without exception.
On the 16th, Busan City announced that it will provide disaster relief funds to children aged 3 to 5 to ease the childcare burden on parents struggling due to COVID-19 and to promote child welfare.
Earlier, on June 30, during the approval of the 2021 first supplementary budget proposal by the Busan City Council, there was an opinion that disaster relief funds should also be provided to children of the same age group as those attending kindergartens. Subsequently, Busan City conducted a prompt review and finally decided to provide the disaster relief funds.
The recipients of the disaster relief funds are children aged 3 to 5 born between January 1, 2015, and December 31, 2017, including those enrolled in daycare centers and those being raised at home, totaling about 38,000 children (as of June 2021).
However, approximately 38,800 children enrolled in kindergartens who are eligible for the education office's disaster relief funds, overseas Koreans, children residing abroad long-term, and foreigners are excluded.
Busan City plans to select the recipients of the disaster relief funds for children aged 3 to 5 from mid-July to avoid overlap with those eligible for the education office's disaster relief funds, and allocate the related budget to each district and county.
After confirming the recipients at the end of July, the city plans to provide 100,000 KRW per child on August 9.
The disaster relief funds will be provided automatically through the child allowance guardian’s payment account without a separate application to eliminate inconvenience from individual applications and to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
