He also plans to hold a meeting with the families of the May 18 victims and visit the main building of the former Jeonnam Provincial Office, where the civilian militia and martial law troops confronted each other during the May 18 incident.
Earlier, on May 18, Yoon released a statement to the media saying, "May 18 is a command for strong rejection and resistance against any form of dictatorship or autocracy."

This visit is part of Yoon's "Yoon Seok-yeol Listens" series of public livelihood explorations. This local schedule is his second, following his visit to Daejeon on the 6th. Yoon paid respects at the Daejeon National Cemetery, including the graves of the 46 Cheonan ship heroes. He also met with nuclear engineering students at KAIST and criticized the Moon Jae-in administration's nuclear phase-out policy.
