Goryeong-gun Youth Magician Lee Seon-gyu Selected as 'Rural Scholarship Student' for 2nd Consecutive Year
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongguk Lee] Goryeong-gun, Gyeongbuk announced on the 15th that Lee Seon-gyu, a graduate of the Out-of-School Youth Support Center (hereinafter Dream Dream Center), was selected as a scholarship student for the 'Rural Youth Scholarship Program' for the second consecutive year following last year, receiving a scholarship of 2.4 million KRW this year.
The 'Rural Youth Scholarship Program' is a program operated by the Korea Youth Counseling and Welfare Institute in connection with the Rural Youth Development Foundation to guarantee equal educational and cultural opportunities to out-of-school youth living in rural areas.
The scholarship certificate awarding ceremony was held on the 14th via ZOOM video conference considering the COVID-19 situation. Lee Seon-gyu expressed his joy, saying, "Due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, opportunities to perform on stage disappeared, and the ongoing costs for making magic-related equipment and self-development were considerable, but this scholarship will greatly help me grow as a magician."
Due to difficult family circumstances, Lee Seon-gyu participated in various programs such as GED study support, cultural experiences, and self-development provided by the Dream Dream Center and passed the high school GED exam.
