POSCO Transfers 588 Eco-friendly and Intelligent Technologies to SMEs Free of Charge
[Sejong=Asia Economy Reporter Kwon Haeyoung] POSCO Group will provide 588 unused technologies related to eco-friendliness and intelligentization to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) for free.
The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy announced the implementation plan for the '2021 Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy-POSCO Technology Sharing' on the 15th.
Technology sharing is a project that transfers unused technologies owned by large corporations to SMEs free of charge, which started in 2013. POSCO Group first participated in 2017 and has joined annually since 2019. This year, six POSCO Group companies including POSCO, POSCO Construction, POSCO Energy, POSCO Chemical, POSCO ICT, and Pohang Institute of Industrial Science and Technology (RIST) are participating.
By category, a total of 588 technologies will be shared free of charge: 62 in eco-friendly energy and resources, 50 in eco-friendly processes, 235 in smart machinery and devices, 71 in smart electrical and electronics, and 170 in smart processes.
Companies wishing to participate in technology sharing can apply by the 25th of next month according to the project announcement posted on the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy or Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology websites.
SMEs that participated in POSCO's technology sharing last year have actively utilized the free transfer of domestic substitute technologies in fields highly dependent on overseas sources, as well as eco-friendly and smart technologies, for product development and improvement.
